Singer, Songwriter & Producer
Soulville - The Ultimate Aretha Franklin Tribute

About
I’m Jewelle McKenzie (pronounced jew-WELL)—a Montreal-born singer, songwriter, and producer working internationally. Live performance has always been at the center of my work. For me, music isn’t about presentation —it’s about connection. People don’t just listen; they feel, and that exchange is what keeps me on stage.
What matters to me is presence —being open, responsive, and fully engaged with the audience, and singing topeople, not just for them. I enjoy shaping performances around the energy of the room, adapting to the moment and welcoming special requests, which allows me to connect with people across cultures, countries, and musical settings.
My approach to music is rooted in Soul and Jazz, influenced by R&B and Gospel, and guided by feeling rather than trends. I’ve never been interested in fitting neatly into categories. Over the years, I’ve performed internationally in luxury hotels, venues, festivals, and concert halls throughout Canada, the United States, Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Europe. I’ve collaborated with many Montreal-based artists —several of whom are recognized internationally —and my work has included performances with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Kent Nagano, as well as appearances on CBC/Radio-Canada and recordings for the National Film Board of Canada.
Alongside my work as a vocalist, I’m an active songwriter and producer. My original music moves freely between soul, swing, jazz, R&B, and Euro-dance genres, reflecting my independence as an artist. That same creative vision extends to larger projects, including Soulville, my concert tribute to Aretha Franklin —a large-scale concert production that brings together storytelling, great musicianship, and a deep respect for the legacy of the Queen of Soul.
Whether I’m performing live, writing, arranging, or producing, my goal is always the same: to create music that resonates —something real, present, and lasting.
